The Michigan Council of HI-USA was one of 26 councils that unified into one Central Organization. We are now a “Friends of” group celebrating the many activities, people, and events that made the Michigan Council what is was.
On Saturday, July 11, 2015, we will be hosting a social gathering and reunion for all past, present, and future Hostelling International members connected to the former Michigan Council. Who is this event for?

- Travelers interested in HI and Hostelling
The social gathering will take place on the afternoon before this year’s annual Paddle to the Symphony event at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Michigan. Join us at the Farm Center classroom building from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on July 11. Park entrance fee of $7.00 per vehicle is required.
David Kalter from the National Office will be joining us, as well as former Michigan Council Executive Directors, Board Members, and Trip Leaders. Bring photos, stories, and memories – you don’t want to miss this event. New to hostelling? This is your chance to connect to lifetime members and current members who enjoy traveling.
Bring a dish to pass – this is a potluck event – or please donate $10.00 per person in lieu of bringing a dish. Please R.S.V.P. by email (HIUSAMichigan@gmail.com) and mention what dish you can bring.
Heavner Canoe will be shuttling people from the Farm Center to the Paddle Launch site and back for anyone doing both events. Follow this link to register for the Paddle to the Symphony, registration and payment is separate from the afternoon event.
