World Travel 101 and World Travel 101 for Girl Scouts
Because travel is transformative, and at the heart of what hostelling is all about, the Michigan Council of Hostelling International offers presentations to encourage global travel for individuals, families, schools and groups. The World Travel 101 presentations provide suggestions on safe and affordable travel, awareness of cultural differences and environmental sensitivity.
World Travel 101 and World Travel 101 for Girl Scouts presentations are designed to:
- Improve a travelers or groups confidence to travel around the globe
- Provide common sense recommendations to save you or your group money
- Teach the values of responsible travel
- Build cultural awareness and environmental sensitivity
When working with a World Travel 101 Presenter, presentations can be tailored to meet the needs of the audience. Presentations cover all the steps in planning a trip, from documents, packing ideas, transportation options, accommodations and budgeting. Our presenters have traveled and want to share their experiences.
Women Traveling Solo
There is no one way to take a trip, but traveling solo can be a very positive, life-changing, and empowering experience. Because of this, many people prefer to travel solo. In particular, many women want the freedom and independence that comes from solo travel.
Benefits of Solo Travel:
- Self-discovery: you will better understand your reactions to the world around you and better understand your limits and preferences.
- Build confidence in your judgment and an amazing sense of accomplishment. You will become less intimidated by new challenges and new and different people. You will discover just how resourceful you are.
- Change your life forever, a chance to escape your day-to-day routine, have new experiences, and learn to handle them by yourself.
All kinds of women do this, not just college students. Women of any age and level of physical ability or income can travel solo.
Travel USA
Travel USA is a domestic version of World Travel 101. Just like WT101, the purpose of this presentation is NOT to provide an encyclopedia of travel information. Particularly with the internet, information changes too rapidly for a presentation like this to stay current if it is too detailed. Rather, this presentation provides a structured format to introduce respectful budget travel and hostelling to future travelers.
Trip Planning 101 for Girl Scouts
Getting ready to travel as a Girl Scout involves planning activities, budgeting, and packing. Our presentation can assist girls to plan and have a great time!
Please see our calendar for upcoming travel presentations.
